The Barbara Bruckmüller Big Band was founded in 2009 by the eponymous composer. The jazz ensemble consists of well-known and some of the best Austrian and international jazz musicians. Over the years she has worked with musicians such as Christian McBride or spoken word artist Wadud Ahmad.
